Composite geomembrane and sodium bentonite waterproof blanket are excellent anti-seepage materials. What's the difference? Composite geomembrane manufacturers explain to you:
First, the production process and anti-seepage principle are different
Composite geomembrane is based on anti-seepage membrane, and composite geotextile on one or both sides of geomembrane. The physical and mechanical indexes such as tensile strength, tear resistance and bursting performance of the composite membrane are higher than those of the geomembrane. Composite geomembranes are divided into one cloth and one film, two cloth and one film, and multi-cloth and multi-membrane.
Sodium-based bentonite waterproof blanket is to lay sodium-based bentonite between two layers of geotextiles and connect them by needle punching. Its waterproof mechanism is: under the constraints of two layers of geotextiles, the bentonite expands from disorder to order, and the continuous absorption of water makes the bentonite layer expand and self-compact, forming a tight colloidal waterproof layer to prevent leakage. Second, the road construction process is different
When the composite membrane pavement is lapped, two adjacent layers of membrane materials need to be welded. The overlap width is 10 cm, and the area is small, so welding is inconvenient. Special adhesives for geomembranes can also be used for bonding.
When the sodium bentonite waterproof blanket is lapped, the lap width is about 30cm, and a layer of lap powder (sodium bentonite) can be sprinkled on the lap joint of adjacent waterproof blankets. Third, the combination of the two is effective
The composite geomembrane has good flexibility, convenient construction and high anti-seepage coefficient. However, the sodium bentonite waterproof blanket has certain mechanical properties and self-healing ability, and can adapt to uneven settlement. When the waterproof blanket is damaged, the bentonite will automatically flow to the damaged opening to complete a certain degree of self-healing. At present, the combination of the two is mainly applicable to the construction of tailings dams and landfills.
The name of bentonite is montmorillonite, and natural bentonite is mainly used. The characteristic of this bentonite is that it can expand rapidly when it meets water. Bentonite is divided into two chemical components, namely sodium base and calcium base. When calcium-based bentonite expands, it can only reach three times its own volume, while sodium-based bentonite can expand more than ten times.
Bentonite waterproof blanket is characterized by very high compactness. Bentonite can form a high-density cross-sectional membrane under pressure, so it has good water permeability and compactness, and strong self-protection performance. The bentonite waterproof blanket uses sodium-based bentonite. Because it is a natural inorganic material, as long as it is not dry in the middle of rivers, lakes and seas, it will not age and corrode after a long time. The service life is quite long, and the waterproof performance is relatively long-lasting.
